Where to stay in Levi with children – choosing a family holiday apartment

In short: for a family, location, sleeping arrangements, cooking and everyday getting around decide how well a place works. The younger the children, the more short transfers and a calm base matter.

A family holiday in Levi works best when the place you stay fits your family’s rhythm. This guide walks through what to check in a holiday apartment depending on your children’s ages and your plans. The focus is on choosing where to stay – for activity ideas, see Levi all year round.

What to look for in a family apartment

Sleeping arrangements. Find out how many proper beds there are and how many places rely on extra beds or a sofa bed. A separate bedroom makes naps and early nights much easier.

Kitchen and dining space. When a family cooks most meals at “home”, a fully equipped kitchen and a table everyone fits around become the heart of the holiday.

Bathrooms. More than one bathroom speeds up mornings and evenings for bigger groups. A private sauna is a highlight for many families.

Laundry and drying. Children’s outdoor clothes get wet every day. Ask how laundry works and where wet clothes can dry.

Storage for gear. Skis, sledges and pushchairs need somewhere to go. Ask in advance where they can be kept.

With a baby or toddler

With the youngest, a smooth holiday is mostly decided indoors:

  • Naps: a room you can darken and some peace and quiet make sleep easier.
  • Meals: a high chair and a well-equipped kitchen make mealtimes simple. With us, a travel cot and a high chair can be ordered in advance for both apartments.
  • Pushchair or sledge: on snowy roads, a sledge is often more practical than a pushchair.
  • Stairs: many holiday apartments have stairs to a loft or upper floor – worth knowing if your little one has just started walking. Ask whether there are safety gates.

With pre-school and school-age children

With older children, days revolve around being outdoors, and location shows up in the transfers:

  • Transfers: how far is the slope, the ski school or the activity meeting point – and can your child walk there carrying their gear?
  • Ski school: check the meeting point with the ski school. It isn’t necessarily next to the slope nearest to you.
  • Meal breaks: being able to come back to the apartment to eat and warm up helps the whole family keep going.
  • Your own pace: with the apartment nearby, some of the family can stay out while others head in.

Being close to a slope is a plus, but it doesn’t mean the nearest slope suits children. Always check how difficult it is.

Utsuvaara or near the village centre?

For a family it comes down to where you’ll spend your days. Utsuvaara suits families who already ski independently and want a quiet setting – though you’ll need a ride into the village. Near the centre suits families whose ski school, shopping and activities are in the village and who’d like to get around on foot. For the full comparison, see Utsuvaara or Levi centre.

Does a family need a car?

Near the centre, families often manage without a car, as long as the walks to the shop and slopes are short. Further out, a car makes shopping, ski school runs and day trips easier – from the airport, for example, Utsuvaara can only be reached by taxi or car. If you’re flying in, see our tips on Levi without a car.

Work out the total cost in advance

The price of the accommodation is only part of the holiday budget. Remember at least:

  • Cleaning and bed linen: with us, bed linen is required, and linen and final cleaning are included only when your booking confirmation says so. Ask us about the options.
  • Transfers: airport transfers and any rides during your stay.
  • Lift passes: two lift passes are included in our winter-season bookings, and everyone staying can take turns using them. If the whole family skis at the same time you’ll need more – check age limits and prices for children’s passes with the ski resort.
  • Ski school and equipment hire: book early, especially for school holiday weeks.

All the details are in our booking terms.
